Friday, 11 July - YB Datuk Wong Soon Koh, Minister of Infrastructure Development and Communications was presented the three emblems of appreciation given to a Paul Harris Fellow by President Sylvester Fong.

As a Minister, YB Datuk has been instrumental in upholding understandings and unity amongst the various races irrespective of their religion. 
 
In view of YB Datuk's devotion to the ideal of goodwill, peace and as well as his substantial contributions to humanitarian and educational activities, YB Datuk has been designated by the Rotary Club of Kuching Central to receive the recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow.

YB Datuk Wong Soon Koh has established himself not only as an outstanding Politician, but has continued to play an active role in many voluntary and educational organizations such as being the Treasurer of the Sibu Kidney Foundation, Chairman of Sarawak United College (which helps to promote and bring affordable, quality education to the doorsteps of the people in Sarawak), Honorable Advisor to Sibu Life Care Society, Advisor to Sarawak Chiang Hsia Huang Clan Association, President of Sibu Tang-So-Do Association and Vice-President of Sarawak Amateur Swimming Association, Sibu.

Last year, Rotary International District 3310 for the year 2003-2003, Michael Graham Parry, bestowed the Paul Harris Fellow to the Right Honourable Chief Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr.) Hj. Abdul Taib Mahmud while his wife, YBhg. Datuk Amar Puan Sri (Dr.) Hajjah Laila Taib was bestowed the Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Club of Kuching Central in 1998.

 
The Paul Harris Fellow

The Paul Harris Fellow recognition is named after the Rotary founder, Paul Harris, a Chicago lawyer who started Rotary International with three business associates in 1905.

Rotarians often designate a Paul Harris Fellow as a tribute to a person whose life demonstrates a shared purpose with the objectives of the Rotary Foundation.

The three emblems of appreciation consist of a - certificate, medallion and pin.
