To meet the above-mentioned goals, objectives and responsibilities, the Rotary Club of Kuching Central has planned and undertaken a comprehensive program of activities for the current Rotary Year, some of which are as follows:

1.

Promotion of and Provide Support to The Rotary Foundation

Our Club was given the opportunity to host and organize The Rotary Foundation (TRF) seminar in Kuching. The seminar was organized to educate Rotarians, especially the new Rotarians, on the goals and programs of TRF.

Some of the goals and programmes of the Rotary Foundation are:

* Fulfil our promise to eradicate Polio
* Support Rotary International President’s emphasis on:
~ alleviating poverty
~ lending a hand on fighting illiteracy
~ addressing medical care and health issues
* Encourage Rotarians to extend help to children from poor families

Our Club hosted and sponsored a Fellowship Dinner on the evening before the seminar to welcome the distinguished speakers, participating Rotarians and their spouses. TRF seminar was successfully held on 20 September 2003 at Merdeka Palace, Kuching. DG David Tong and PDG Fong Hoe Beng were there to provide leadership and to facilitate the seminar and had also created a significant impact on all the participants. As a result of the Seminar, 16 Rotarians pledged to contribute to The Rotary Foundation Annual Giving Program.

2.

International Night for the Promotion of World Understanding and Peace

Our Club participated in Rotary’s centennial celebration in Kuching. An ‘International Night’ was jointly organized by all the clubs in Kuching in conjunction with the arrival of the Centennial Bell on 10 March 2004. The Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Dato Sri Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bun Tun Abang Haji Openg was the Guest of Honour for the event. Foreign and local dignitaries were also invited to the function to demonstrate the internationality of Rotary and its aim to foster world understanding, peace and goodwill.

3.

Promotion of International Goodwill and Friendship Between Rotarians Worldwide

It is a culture of our Club to strongly encourage members to attend District Assembly, District Conference, Pan Borneo Meet and RI Convention. As a result, our Club had recorded very good attendance at the District Assembly in Johor, District Conference in Singapore and Pan Borneo Meet in Sabah held this Rotary Year. Our Rotarian spouses and family members normally also accompany our Rotarians to these events.

4.

Participation in International Youth Projects and GSE to Experience the Internationality of Rotary, and Promotion of International Goodwill and Friendship

Our Club actively participated in GSE and Youth Exchange Student programs, for example:
* Hosted Youth Exchange Students from Brazil in our members’ home during their stay in Kuching, Sarawak. Participated in a Combined Rotary Farewell Dinner for Youth Exchange Students from Brazil on 29 October 2003.
* Hosted a welcome dinner for GSE team from District 7070, Ontario, Canada on 17 January 2004.
* Hosted a Rotary fellowship dinner for Rtn Paul Mackie and his spouse, Stephanie from the United Kingdom on 23 February 2004. Rtn Paul Mackie was the leader of a GSE team that visited our District 3310 in Year 2002.
