DG at our 3rd Club Assembly Friendship was the foundation, the rock on which Rotary Service was built, the first Object of Rotary is "to encourage and foster the development of acquaintance as am opportunity for service." The family of Rotary encourages clubs to care for Rotarians and members of Rotary's extended family (spouses and children) and remember spouses of deceased Rotarians. The objective is to create a family atmosphere as a closely knit club is more likely to be an effective club. "By Club Service, Rotary means those things that a Rotarian does to help make successful the administration of his Rotary Club, by being present at its meetings, sponsoring new members, participating in its fellowship, taking part in its programmes, serving on committees, serving as an officer, paying his dues and representing the Club in outside activities.
