In terms of
Vocational Service, Rotary employs "service" in its
broad sense, referring not merely to the merchandise sold or
work done in any business or professional transaction, but the
giving of due consideration to the needs of others. Vocational
Service is the way Rotary fosters and supports the application
of the ideal of service in the pursuit of all vocations.
It is the responsibility of the club and its members to
develop projects that help members contribute their vocational
talents and to encourage high ethical standards in business
and professions.
To meet Rotary's objectives and recognizing each Rotarian's
occupation as an opportunity to serve, the Rotary Club of
Kuching Central has undertaken the following Vocational
activities in the last Rotary Year:

Presentation
of Vocational Awards
In recognizing their excellence in their vocation, our
Club presented vocational awards to two outstanding
members of the "Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat
Sarawak" Encik Abang Azemi and Encik Mujah Muari.
Our club also recognize an outstanding member of the
Royal Malaysian Police, CIU Head, ASP Wong Chee Kiong.
The awards was presented in a well attended dinner
ceremony of our club in the presence of our visitng
District Governor Dr. IVor Thevathasan and District
First Lady Maureen.

Leadership
Training for Rotaractors and Interactors
It is our club's yearly tradition to conduct a
leadership training for the Rotaractors of Swinburne
University of Technology, Interact Clubs of SMK Bandar
Kuching No. 1 and SMK Kuching High. This is to train and
guide them in the running of their clubs and to impart
Rotary values and ideals to them.

Promotion
of Vocational and Health Awareness
Our club encourages our members to live a healthy
lifestyle and during the year, organized a number of
prominent individual to give talks on their respective
vocation.
In November 2004, we had the honour to have Prof. Dr.
Sim Kui Hian, (the head of the Department of Cardiology
& Clinical Research Centre Sarawak General Hospital)
to give us a presentation and talk on Heart Diseases and
the excellent work done at Dept of Cardiology &
Clinical Research Centre.
The talk was well attended by Rotarians, family and
invited guests, the talk gave most informative, relevant
and impressed all attendees on the availability and
capability of such advance cardiac medical care and
facilities in Kuching.
On a lighter note, a very interesting talk on yoga,
health and our well being was conducted by our very own
"yoga master", Past President Polycarp Teo
which was also attended by our members and spouses.

Participation
In Professional and Trade Bodies / Association
Our members are encouraged to participate in
professional bodies and / or association and a large
percentage of our members participate actively and hold
senior position in such professional of trade
associations in Kuching.
