The Rotary Club of
Kuching Central has undertaken the following activities during
the year to promote the Rotary International Service ideals,
namely to encourage and foster the advancement of
international understanding, goodwill and peace through world
fellowship of business and professional persons united in the
ideals of service.

Participation
In International Youth Project Through Group Study
Exchange (GSE)
Our club co-hosted 5 GSE members and their team leader
from Saitama, Japan. The GSE team comprising Japanese
English teachers on a study tour to observe and learn as
to how the English language is being taught in our
country. It also served as a cultural and goodwill
visit. In exchange, a GSE Team from our district
(District 3310) comprising working youth will make
similar visit to Japan.

Promotion
of International Understanding and Education
Our Club on a yearly basis will sponsor two GAP program
students to teach English at Chung Hua Middle School No.
4. This year one British and one Australian GAP
volunteers are being assigned to the school.

Promotion
of International Goodwill and Friendship Between
Rotarian Worldwide
To encourage and promote international goodwill and
friendship amongst Rotarians, our club during the year
has completed the following activities:

Attendance
of Rotarians and spouses to the Installation
Dinner of the Rotary Club of Malacca and Rotary
Club of Queenstown in June/July, 2004. |

Attendance
of the 15th District Assembly by our members in
April 2005. |

Hosting
of visiting Rotarians to our clubs during our 19th
Installation in July 2004. |

Hosting
of 16 Rotarians and their spouses from Norway
(Rotary Clubs of Orskog, Vestnes and Aalesund) to
Sarawak on a cultural and sightseeing visit. |

Celebration of Rotary Centennial (100) Year
To celebrate a 100 years of Rotary, the four Rotary
Clubs in Kuching, namely, Rotary Club of Kuching
Central, Rotary Club of Kuching, Rotary Club of Kuching
Jaya and Rotary Club of Kuching South jointly organized
a number of events to commenarate the contribution of
Rotary Clubs in Kuching:

2nd May, 2005, a ceremony was held to recognize
corporation and individuals who has contributed
towards Rotary Clubs in Kuching in our service to
our community. |

A
free public health screening and blood donation
campaign was also held in conjunction. The event
of 2nd May 2005 was witnessed by the State
Minister of Housing, our District Governor,
invited guests, Rotarians and family. |

A
well participated International Night was also
organized by the four Rotary Clubs on the 2nd of
April 2005 at Holiday Inn Poolside, after a fun
telematch in the morning. |
