Essay
Competition
The International Service theme for this year is
"World Peace and Understanding". An essay
competition was jointly organised with the Rotary Club
of Kuching and Sin Chew Jit Poh. For the first time
the essay competition was in Mandarin. The publicity
was mainly provided by Sin Chew Jit Poh. The responce
was quite encouraging with entries coming from West
Malaysia and Sarawak. The prizes offered were very
attractive with a cash value of RM1,000.00 for 1st,
RM500.00 for 2nd and RM300.00 for 3rd prizes
respectively. The seven consolation prizes were
sponsored by the Sin Chew Jit Poh.

Prizes
for the West Malaysia winners were presented by the
Sin Chew Jit Poh on behalf of the two Clubs while the
5 consolation winners from Sarawak were presented at
the Saturday luncheon meeting on 27 June 1992. The
President of Kuching Club Rtn Patrick Panai Sigar,
President-Elect Rtn Peter Wong and International
Service Director Rtn Victor Lee were also in presence
to give away the prizes. Souvenirs were also presented
to the 3 judges, they were namely Mr. Wong Kok Kyen,
Mr. Liaw Kui Ted and Mr. Sick Goh Ngong.

International Night
A joint project with the Kuching Club, the
International Night was held on the evening of the
Banquet Dinner for the 6th Pan Borneo Inter-Club Meet.
5 Interact Clubs, namely Kuching High School, St.
Thomas School, St. Joseph School, Tun Abang Haji Openg
School and Green Road Secondary School each presented
an item to entertain the guests. The variety of items
presented include a solo on the classical Chinese
instrument called "Yang Ching", a musical
play based on the theme song of the film
"Grease", a Malay candle light dance,
cha-cha formation dance and a local Bidayuh dance. The
performances were highly praised by the audience.
