Jayasingam
- Thavam during his visit with the Secretary
Mr. Albert Goh to our Club. the project was
indeed a great success. The response was
tremendous that the amount collected was well
above our target. The 22,100 pieces above the
target indeed shows that the society are
concern for the needful ones. They too knows
that the Club will distribute them to the
needys irrespective of their race and religion
and locations. It was also a bad year for
longhouses. Hundreds of families were made
homeless by fire. The unexpected
"Twister" hit a village. But some
other families are just in need of aids and
they are located beyond the reach of our
normal societies. We the Rotarians of Kuching
Central were indeed glad to assist in being a
channel of distributions of this basic
facilities and other aids to where they are
needed most. A helicopter was chartered by a
gentleman to deliver the clothing to Kapit to
assist about one hundred families whose
longhouse was totally burnt. There was those
Ms Ngiu Kee staff who travel to the interior
by Longboat to ensure that the clothings gets
direct to the needful ones. If you care to
experience a timber trace ride you should join
the distributions of those clothings to the
Baram Penans. A State Assembly Man Encik Mong
Dagang personally drove to Sibu to collect
clothings and toys for one of the Longhouses
in his constituencies which was burnt to the
ground 5 days before Christmas.
