PERSONAL
MOTIVATION & ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT BY GERALD
BRADLEY - A CLUB & COMMUNITY SERVICE JOINT
PROJECT ON 1ST APRIL 1997
It was a
motivational morning when a total of 142 people
including President Philip & his spouse, PP.
Odita, PP. Ee Guan Teck, IPP. Andre & spouse,
Rtn. Wilford Teo, Rtn. Patrick Yu, Delwin (spouse of
Rtn. Aw), and Louise (spouse of Rtn. Polycarp)
attended the above personal development seminar.
Gerald Bradley, with the
help of his wife, Margaret, did a superb
motivational delivery of his personal development
seminar. He was definitely a good speaker and many
of those who attended had the same opinion.
He spoke of the importance
of 'Communications' and identified that there are
three types of 'Communications' namely communicating
to yourselves, others and the Almighty. Basically,
all types of 'Communications' involve three main
processes: by words, tone of voice, physiology (body
language). 'Communications' is mainly 70% consist of
words, 38% tonal and 55% physiology. The average
person communicates about 22,000 words daily.

Life
= 10% of what happens to you + 90% of
how you respond to what happened to you |
|
|
|
Gerald also touched at great length the topic on
'Motivation' where it can be classified into three
different types: fear motivation, incentive
motivation and personal attitudinal motivation.
He also elaborated on the
areas of 'Attitude' and the fact that, according to
Harvard Business Review, when an employer recruits a
new employee, it is likelihood that employer's
criteria for selection of the best applicants will
depend on 85% of his 'Attitude' and 15% of his
'Aptitude'.
Such importance on
'Attitude' is probably due to the fact that our
brain is constructed to handle more on 'emotions'
(85% and less on 'facts' (15%)).

IT
IS YOUR ATTITUDE AND NOT YOUR APTITUDE
THAT DETERMINES YOUR ALTITUDE |
