Report of Vocational Projects for Rotary Year 1996/1997

1.  Vocational Service Awards for 2 Sports Trainers on 16 November 1996

     The awards were given in honour of the following trainers in recognition of their dedication in the training of our Sarawakian Sports Mento represent Malaysia to complete in the SEA Game and ASEAN Schools Meet:

          Mr. Tan Hwa Seng of Chung Hwa Primary School No. 5
          Mr. Wong Kion Ling of Chung Hwa High School No. 1

     Both of them have trained out the following athletes who won in the sports meet as follows:

          1.     Mr. Liew Sze Kiuk
                  No. 4 in the 90 SEA Game 89 in 100m hurdle event
                  No. 3 in the 89 ASEAN Schools Meet
          2.     Mr. Philip Poh
                  No. 3 in the 91 ASEAN Schools Meet in 400m at Bangkok
          3.     Miss Ng Lee Yee
                  No. 3 in the Singapore Meet in Iron Disc event

2.  Internet Awareness Talk for Rotarians

     There were a total of 25 participants including Rotarians and their family members and friends attended the talk. The feedback from them were that they are now become more aware to the subject and understand the powerful, faster, cheaper and more effective through the use of E-mail correspondence. More information can be found on the Internet World Web Page. Most of the participants commented it was a beneficial morning and time worth spending. 

A token of appreciation to the Speaker Mr. Choo by Vocational Service Director Rtn. Sim Cho Phong & the President. Talk on 'Internet' by Mr. Norman Choo.
