CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS EXHIBITION

On the 30th of August 1997, the Rotary Club of Kuching (jointly with the Rotary Club of Kuching Jaya) launched a 3-day Child Abuse Awareness Exhibition at Wisma Saberkas, Kuching. The exhibition was in fact declared open by the District Governor Fong Hoe Beng during his visit to the Kuching Rotary Clubs. The purpose of the exhibition

was to create awareness of Child Abuse problems in our society which is also one of the things cited for the Presidential Citation namely "sponsor or participate in a project that addressed the problems of Child Abuse... in your community." Leaflets on Child Abuse were also printed for distribution to the public and schools. In the above photo, DG and Pres. Wong Kho Ching, Pres. Teo Yu Tuan, Pres. DONATION OF LENS AND EYE TESTING PROJECTS On the 30th of August 1997, our Club launched the above project with the assistance of M/s Guan Ho Leong Optician.

The donation of the contact lens are for the use of the old folks in the rural kampungs who were and are haing probelms with their eye sights due to old age. The Bahai Group in Kuching has also come forward to offer their assistance by identifying the longhouse folks who need the lens and it is expected the project will help at least 500 old folks.
