THE IMPORTANCE OF CONTINUED EDUCATION AFTER SCHOOL - A TALK FOR THE INTERACTORS

Speaker Dr. W.Chong receiving Club's momentos.

Students from 7 secondary schools attending the Talk.

On the 24th of January 1998, Vocational Service Director PP. Frankie Yong organised a talk for the interactors and the above mentioned topics. The talk was held from 8.30 to 10.00am at CADAS Business School Seminar Hall and the speaker was Dr. W. Chong who is the Deputy Director of Studies, Head of Academic Department.

The interactors were informed of the importance to further equip themselves with additional high academic qualifications in order to enable them to meet the competitive challenges of the next millennium. Dr. Chong also spoke on the difference in learning culture between Asians and Western students where the former learns by way of memorising facts while the latter learns by creative thinking. Dr. Chong also touched today's learning and gave example on developing skills in "speed reading" where ine can achieve reading 800 to 1000 words per minute.

Students should also refrain themselves from drinking tea or coffee as this could damage their liver and kidneys by extracting oxygen out from the blood due to the presence of caffeine.

There were 30 interactors from SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1, 15 interactors from SMB Kuching High, 1 Teacher Advisor from SMK Bandar Kuching No. 1 (Ms. Poh Siew Ping) and SMB Kuching High (Ms Rita Wong).

Dr. Chong is a graduate from Otago University, New Zealand majoring in Human Resource Management. He also did a post graduate in Herbal Medicine from the Australian College of Herbal Studies.
